With a long history of association with the arts, Fitzrovia is still a thriving artistic district, abuzz with media professionals, fashionistas, designers and artists; there is a distinctive creative flair to Fitzrovia that makes it a unique part of London. With the opening of 48 new art galleries in 2014 and gallery types that range from the classic Art Deco RIBA to Lazarides – the international market-leader in urban art – the avant-garde scene is very much alive in Fitzrovia.
The fashion industry still features heavily with the headquarters of multinational, retail giant Arcadia Group on Berners Street, and leading fashion photographers Dewar Studios on Great Titchfield Street. New media companies are also prominent features of Fitzrovia, from television production heavyweights MTV Networks Europe and CNN Europe to London’s Time Out magazine, created and edited on Tottenham Court Road.
